My county has a very close relationship with quaver. Even one computer can make it work for a program. It has given her kids a chance to dive deeply into music twice a week in a district where resources tend to be scarce. They get together twice a week to do large projects using the composition and song writing web based software. There is some left to be desired, but if you have regular access to computers, the online activities for your students to use are great.Ī friend and colleague of mine actually has a Quaver Club. The kids tend to really enjoy most of the episodes. I have it in my room, but use it as a resource rather than curriculum. I can say without a doubt that its creative minds are very inspiring! I was able to check out a little of the website and it looks helpful and creative. It doesn’t matter who you are, you can have your own sound, your voice." Music is raw emotion, we can all listen to it and love it, and what an amazing opportunity to bring the ability to create your own music to people, both young and old. What an amazing talk, and it really did hit me how right he was. It was clear that he had picked every single word carefully, and not only did he talk, he played piano, he acted and we all sang together. He painted a picture of how music lifts us emotionally, can describe so much with sound, not words, and brings out our true selves. Hepburn gave one of the most brilliant speeches I have ever heard in my life, his oratory skills were incredible. I wrote about it in one of my college essays: Hepburn, Quaver's CCO and co-creator, spoke to us. I did get the privilege to attend NAfME's All-Nationals Honor Ensembles event this past November and Mr. I happen to be a music student, senior in high school. I didn't really get too detailed, but I can if you'd like. If anyone wants to talk more PM me or comment about it. It's not the best, but its pretty decent. Considering the high amount of both korean and japanese students I have, it made me uncomfortable. One particular video, a woman is speaking korean and he calls her japanese. It's silly, but kind of rubs me the wrong way. Italian guy talking about spaghetti and the like. If you care about this sort of thing, they really sort of lean into stereotypes in some of the videos, too. That's because they go kind of wacky with the settings and stuff. They speak incredibly fast, and I've seen a lot of my low level english speakers really struggling to find out whats going on. I think when producing the videos they sort of left my kids out in the dark. My class is 99% english language learners. They're quirky and they make my kids laugh, but the real value in quaver, I find, is the lessons themselves. The quaver videos themselves aren't the best. Sure, it's great to call on prior knowledge, but I can see students lose interest when it's a song they've done before. My biggest gripe with the songs is that they re-use a lot of them for different topics and different grade levels. Some are just sort of.there, and I found myself looking for the connections to the lesson from time to time. Some are really well thought out, catchy, and really drive the idea home. These songs are sometimes hit or miss, too. It's sort of frustrating to teach a full song sometimes because they don't do a great job breaking up parts. Like, the songs are just sort of put on screen with the words sing-a-long style. While there are a lot of songs that the company has made, they don't really support audiation. Theres a pretty solid recorder section and even a beginner ukulele section for 5th grade. That being said, it was a great resource to cover things that I wasn't sure how to teach, or at least gave me some good ideas for how to create my own lessons which is really great for first year teachers. It's marketed as a curriculum in a box, and I agree a lot with what /u/Idahogirl556 said about my degree being worth more than pushing a button. There are some actually well done lessons. I'll talk more about this stuff in the cons section, too. The kids are engaged when we use it, so I guess I'm using technology in my classroom "more" than I normally would. Sure, I could make many of the games and stuff with the regular SMARTBOARD tech, but this stuff is pretty polished for what it is. Here's my mini review.Īs you would imagine, it's great for technology. My school purchased quaver before I started there and it was expected of me to use it once I started there.

In the case of RME, you learn how to use totalmix and it's the same for the babyface and the larger interfaces. It's nice to have a small interface and a larger one by the same company. Something like the Universal Audio 4-710d would give you the nice UA PREs and A/D for the critical tracks while using either the internal or lower cost ADAT devices for less critical tracks. If you do that, you're bypassing the PREs and the A/D converters in the interface and using the ones in the outboard gear. Once you get to the larger interfaces, you'll also probably be in need of ADAT connectivity to get the port counts you need. Basically you can record all tracks directly to a USB drive or stick without the need for a computer. The ability on the UFX to do direct recording is very nice if you do any live recording. It might even swing you towards a UFX for your larger needs. Great drivers on any platform including win 10. The UAD Apollo Twin is nice, but in that price range I would go with the new RME babyface pro. See the latest Tape Op for a review of their 20x20 unit. And since TAScAM is coming out w/ new units, it looks to be a good bet. Updates seem to be coming out regular-like and each iteration seems to have less latency. One good thing is that TASCAM (never known for great drivers) hired their own driver writers and their drivers work across the range of their newer products. TASCAM is as cheap as anyone on the lower end, and has the best bang for buck in a couple of categories. At this point, using SONAR, I'd check out the TASCAM units (Gibson owns Cake and TASCAM so everyone uses those at the office). The solution is to buy from a retailer who lets you return your buy for another, similarly-priced unit which should work - 99 out of a hundred times. You might be the unlucky 1 out of a 100 whose computer just won't work w/ a specific unit and driver. Fewer people write in to say it works great and "I didn't' have to think about it." Since different PCs are stuffed w/ any number of choices for components, nobody can test all the variations until the public gets ahold of it. you usually get comments from people that have had problems, so the unit looks like trouble. When you read user reviews on a manufacture's site etc. All modern music interfaces cards will perform as above (or every one I've heard about), so you are good to go. However, most interfaces today have the ability to send the track to be recorded directly out of the interface, too (thereby skipping the latency). If you have over 10 ms of delay, it can really be a problem. Most of the problem comes from latency, which is how long it takes for sound to come into the computer (for recording) and then back out (so you can hear what you recorded). Most interfaces will work fine w/ most music computer systems. Take care to avoid the fire from the outlaws below. Take cover behind the left hand wall and take out the two outlaw shooters on the platform with Jo Mamma. Then activate the elevator with a zappfly. Jo Mamma: From the start, run to the wrecked ship to draw away a couple of outlaws. Then use a combo of boombats and thudslugs to take down Boilz. Looten Duke: Take out the outlaws one by one at the water facility, then kill the mortar outlaws from afar. Then use a bolamite and quickly bounty him. That said, you should buy upgrades as soon as possible, prioritise the stamina and ammo bag upgrades if you happen to be stretched for moolah. This quest begins with a new character named Brigida Papebrock, who is a key witness to events surrounding the disappearance of King Foltest’s children. If you side with Roche in chapter 1, the new quest line that starts in chapter 3 is named Crown Witness. The promise of more story-related content being a lure in a puzzle game is cool and the story is a blast to go through. It’s a fun conceit and it’s something that makes winning more of a priority since it’s a lot of fun to see the story progress and the only way to do that is to keep marching forward and learning the nuances and getting better at them. It’s fun to see the super-chill characters clash with those who are more moody or in some cases just aloof and leave out key details like a “beach trip” really being a way to work for a relative on the cheap to actually pay for the road trip in a beat-up car that may or may not safely get them all from point A to B. Games like Puyo Puyo Tetris put character interplay in the story, but nothing goes to this degree. There was a lot of effort put into crafting the characters and how they play off of one another and that’s something that’s almost-never seen in a puzzle game because there’s little need for it in theory. The idea of a group of friends in different bands going on a road trip is a lot of fun and allows for a more relaxed story than one might expect from a puzzle game. It holds true whether the player opts to just play without stakes at all or goes into the story mode - which does a fantastic job of teaching while also kicking your butt and making the player learn the hard way a few times. Losing a round or two only to use that as a means to avoid losing the rest in a best of seven affair is well worth it and something that pays dividends down the line. This is where defeat being a good thing can pay off because if the player chooses to use a few of those attempts as learning experiences and pays attention to what was done, it can pay off in the long run. The large board is more forgiving when it comes to turn counts and enables players to make more mistakes when it comes to picking and choosing the best color path - but that goes away with multiplayer boards where up to three other CPU or human rivals can all be more efficient than the player. One impressive thing about Indigo 7 is that both the single player large-scale board and smaller multiplayer boards have the same core gameplay behind them, but deliver different levels of the core experience. Having turn limits in place for multiplayer action is also another wrinkle that is rarely seen, but keeps things interesting here since that kind of battle is entirely efficiency-based and a true test of a player’s skills and mastery of the core game mechanics. Players can have anywhere from three to a full gamut of seven colors to work with and the more colors there are, the easier it is to make a mistake since it can be easy to miss a single outlier yellow piece in a sea of green and blue. With Indigo 7, players need to be mindful of their board - but mainly to ensure that they are making smart and efficient choices with the color grid. With most puzzle games, the goal is just to clear the board or to keep the size of your puzzle board down in “fill the well”-style games that limit your workable space. Players start on the bottom-left of the screen with their avatar’s smiling face as a starting point and want to go from a group of three whenever possible to keep a combo chain active to larger groups in an effort to be as efficient as possible. The core puzzle action uses either a large or small hexagonal grid, somewhat similar on a base level to games like Hexic HD back in the early Xbox 360 days - but with an interesting race to the finish/maze-like spectacle to it. There aren’t a lot of games where one can say that losing is nearly as fun as winning, but with Indigo 7, it can be thanks to the developers putting so much effort into little parts of the presentation. The fusion of puzzle action with a comedy-centric story is something that immediately allows Indigo 7: Quest for Love to feel like a more fun experience and having a diverse cast that infuses their personalities into wins and losses makes even a bitter defeat fun. Indigo 7 aims to avoid that problem by standing out immediately with a bright color scheme and its emphasis on a story mode alongside a hexagonal grid setup for its core gameplay. We have seen a lot of puzzle games hit the scene, but so many don’t do much to separate themselves from the pack. Please Note: We do not support Windows 8 or Windows 10 for Serato ITCH. The anime finished before the manga could wrap up the story though, and as a result, there are a few differences between them.
